Pahadian Sports Foundation Felicitates International Rugby Player Sailen Tudu for His Outstanding Contribution to Indian Rugby

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: 30 Aug 2026: Pahadian Sports Foundation felicitated international Rugby player and coach Sailen Tudu in recognition of his contribution to the development and promotion of Rugby in India. The felicitation was held at the residence of Chittaranjan Murmu, Co-Founder of Pahadian Sports Foundation, in a gathering focused on recognising Sailen Tudu's long-standing association with Rugby and his work with young players.

Originally from Kolkata, Sailen Tudu began his Rugby journey in 2004. Over the years, he progressed from a young player to representing India at the international level. His sporting career also took him to England, where he received a scholarship to study sport with a focus on Rugby at Hartpury College near Gloucester. During his time in England, Tudu continued his Rugby career and played for Longlevens RFC in Gloucestershire. His experience in the English Rugby environment added an international dimension to his playing and coaching journey.

After his playing career, Tudu continued to contribute to the development of Rugby in India. He has been involved in training and mentoring young players and has worked to create opportunities for athletes from communities where access to organised sporting opportunities can be limited. Tudu has also been associated with initiatives aimed at promoting Rugby among tribal youth. His work has focused on using sport as a means of developing young talent while encouraging discipline, confidence and greater participation in competitive sports.

His transition from an international player to a mentor and coach has allowed him to pass on his experience to a new generation of Rugby players. He is presently associated with the Indian U-18 Rugby Team as a coach, working with young athletes preparing for higher levels of competition.

The felicitation also marked an opportunity to acknowledge Tudu's journey from Kolkata to the international Rugby arena and his subsequent involvement in coaching and developing young players. Pahadian Sports Foundation expressed its appreciation to Sailen Tudu for accepting the felicitation and participating in the event.
