20th Kalinganagar Veer Shaheed Memorial Football Tournament-2026

Pahadian Sports Foundation Introduces Rugby-2025 Seva Ratna Award for the first time in India

Bhubaneswar, 04 Jan 2026: In a historic moment for Indian rugby, Pahadian Sports Foundation introduced the Rugby Seva Ratna Award for the first time in Odisha, India, setting a new benchmark in recognizing service and leadership in rugby and sports administration.

The inaugural Rugby Seva Ratna Award was conferred upon Mr. Upendra Kumar Mohanty, Vice President of the Odisha Rugby Football Association (ORFA), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the growth and governance of rugby in the state.

The award was presented by Lt. Col. Bijayananda Das, Founder of Pahadian Sports Foundation, and Mr. Priyadarshi Mishra, President of ORFA, in the presence of distinguished guests from sports, media, and professional fields.

On the same occasion, several eminent personalities were felicitated for their contributions to sports and society. The honourees included Ms. Dutee Chand, Olympian; Mr. Shakti Ranjan Mohanty, Treasurer of ORFA; Mr. Tanmay Ku. Dash, News Coordinator of The New Indian Express; Mr. Suresh Swain, News Coordinator of SAMBAD; Mr. Bhej, Director of Miska Enterprises; and Mr. Guru Charan Naik, Chartered Accountant.

The event was further strengthened by the presence of the leadership team of Pahadian Sports Foundation, including Mr. Chittaranjan Murmu, Co-Founder; Mrs. Sweta Das and Mrs. S. The Rugby Seva Ratna Award, instituted for the first time in Odisha and India, aims to honour individuals who demonstrate integrity, dedication, and long-term commitment to the advancement of rugby. Pahadian Girl Who Rose from the Coal Fields to the Rugby Ground

Bhubaneswar, 05 Dec 2025 In a proud moment for the entire Pahadian community and the state’s sports fraternity, Miss Karmi Hansdah, a talented athlete from the Pahadian Sports Foundation, has been selected for the Odisha Rugby Team. She will be representing the state in the prestigious Asmita East Zone Rugby League in Guwahati, Assam.

What makes Karmi’s journey even more inspiring is her humble background. Her father and mother earn their livelihood by unloading coal from trains in Jajpur, a life of grit, hard labour, and silent sacrifice. Their hands may be covered in coal dust, but their dreams for their daughter have always been pure, bright, and unwavering. Karmi carries not just her passion for sports

Pahadian Sports Foundation Appoints International Rugby Star ACF Bhagyalaxmi Barik as New Vice President

Bhubaneswar, 22 Nov 2025 Pahadian Sports Foundation has announced the appointment of Mrs. Bhagyalaxmi Barik as its new Vice President. Mrs. Barik, who currently serves as an Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) with the Government of Odisha, is celebrated for her remarkable achievements in Rugby. A native of Cuttack district, she completed her education at KISS  University.

Welcoming her to the foundation, Founder Lt. Col. B. N. Das said she would be a game changer for the future of the foundation, bringing her vast sports experience for the betterment of players.  Co-Founder Mr. Chittaranjan Murmu expressed similar sentiments, stating that her inclusion marks a new era of growth and commitment for Pahadian Sports Foundation.

Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Barik said, I am truly honored to be part of the Pahadian family. I thank the foundation for considering me for this role. I am excited to work for the development of tribal athletes and look forward to collaborating with Mr. Murmu and the entire team.

The Pahadian Sports Foundation, headquartered in Bhubaneswar, currently operates centers in Rayagada, Bhubaneswar, and Kendujhar, with plans to expand across the entire state and eventually throughout India. A former member of the Indian Women’s Rugby Team, she represented the nation from 2008 to 2020, participating in 12 international tours and proudly competing at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. After completing her education, she secured an A-grade government post through the OPSC examination in 2019, further showcasing her determination and excellence.

Pahadian Sports Foundation Clinches Gold in Under-15 Girls Touch Rugby at Asmita Rugby League 2025-26                    

Jajpur, November 1, 2025: PPahadian Sports Foundation has proudly secured the gold medal in the Under-15 Girls Touch Rugby category at the Asmita Rugby League 2025, held at the Jajpur Sports Complex. The one-day tournament, inaugurated by Jajpur Collector Shri Ambar Kumar Kar, witnessed spirited performances from young athletes across the region. Demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination, the Pahadian girls dominated the league stage  defeating Team Apex 10–00 and Team Mugupal 05–00 before triumphing over Team Dasharathpur 10–00 in a thrilling final match.

The winning squad comprised 10 players and 6 official including Co-Founder Chittaranjan Murmu and Niranjan Biswal (Team Manager), along with Joint Secretary Rajesh Kumar Barla. The team was expertly guided by Coach Premanjali Marndi, Assistant Coach Malati,

and Physical Conditioner Bhanja Sundi, whose combined efforts played a crucial role in the team’s success. Founder Lt. Col. Master Shivank Nayak Glides to Victory at CBSE Zonal Skating Championship 2025-26

Talent Identification Program 2025-26

Sunday on 26 Oct 2025 Pahadian Sports Foundation successfully conducted its Talent Identification Program for the year 2025–26 at Brahmanipal, further strengthening its mission to promote sports among tribal youth in the region. Around 80 local players participated in the program, with Rugby and Football as the key sporting activities showcased during the event.

A total of 20 promising talents were selected out of the 80 participants. These selected players will receive structured training, coaching support, and sports equipment from the foundation to help them grow as competitive athletes.

To encourage young talent and promote Rugby in the area, the foundation also distributed T-shirts along with rugby balls, footballs, and other essential sports equipment to the participants. Additionally, all players were provided with evening snacks and refreshments to ensure a comfortable and engaging environment throughout the event.
